Patinated Brass and Ormolu-mounted Shield-form Clock and Barometer Set, c. 1885, cast brass globe finials adorn the pair of shield-form wall cases with ormolu mounts throughout, engine-turned bezels surround the 4 1/2-in. dia. porcelain dials, eight-day time and countwheel strike movement with silk thread suspension, aneroid barometer mounted in the other case, ht. 16 in.
Note: During the latter part of the 19th century, due to increasingly high demand for classically influenced designs from wealthy clientele whose tastes harkened back to the classical periods, firms such as Henry Dasson started to manufacture such objects to higher standards. Original model is pictured in Tardy, Volume II, p. 342.
