Watch and Clockmaker's Trade Sign, reportedly, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, c. late 19th century, gilt tin eagle form with outstretched wing and sharp talons perched on a weathervane ball holding a 7-in. dia. roman numeral dial and watch with stem winding and swag bezel all on a modern display stand, wd. of outstretched wings 36, as shown maximum ht. 50 in.
Estimate $500-700
No doubt a make-do, with eagle and ball part of a weathervane and watch a vital part of a watchmaker's sign. Minor bends and splits on object left wing, old gilt paint but probably not the original.
