Massachusetts Gilt-framed Patent Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock, c. 1820, mahogany case with a roman numeral painted iron dial, brass side ornaments, rope-molded gilt frames enclosing the reverse-painted glass tablets, lower glass depicting a battle between the ships the Wasp and the Frolic, reading Capture of the Frolic in the banner, and an eagle above a blue- and red-painted shield reading Patent, the lower gadrooning with center medallion reading Jones, eight-day time-only movement regulated by a brass-faced pendulum bob, ht. 33 in.
