Battersea Bridge Road at Night
. Possible monogram l.l., inscribed "By J.M. Smith/A Ba...sea Bridge Road/Exhibited at the Royal Academy/NW London 1916" and "Property of/Trustees of/Juliet P. Morgan" on the frame backing paper. Oil on artist board, 10 5/8 x 10 5/8 in., framed. Condition: Fine craquelure, surface grime.

N.B. The above referenced inscription may refer to Juliet Pierpont Morgan (b. 1816),who was Mrs. Junius Spencer Morgan, the mother of J.P. Morgan Sr. (1837-1913). No specific biographical references were found for the artist J.M. Smith, and the Royal Academy, London, did not have a record for this work being exhibited in 1916.
