Silk K'ossu Tapestry Valance, China, 18th century, the top register depicting four stands each with a dish on top holding three auspicious citron fruits with two bronze vessels between each holding auspicious peach branches, in the center and at the ends a group of auspicious objects, the main section depicting four large blue and white vases holding auspicious flowers and four archaic bronze censers surrounded by ruyi scepters and dragon roundels, all on a pale orange silk ground, the borders depicting lotus blossoms and tendrils among clouds in gold metal-wrapped threads on a blue silk ground, the lining red silk with woven cloud pattern, wd. 36 1/2, lg. 64 in.
