Manchu Man's Semiformal Robe, China, 19th century, embroidered with nine dragons on the front, shoulders, back and inside flap, surrounded by clouds and bats, with the eight Buddhist treasures and precious objects, the dragons embroidered in silver and gray satin stitch, all over an interlocking meander pattern in blue satin stitch on brown silk, above crashing waves with bats and a lishui border, lg. 52 1/2 in.
