La Calavera de Madero, 1910 1910. Signed within the matrix. Metal relief print on paper, image size 11 7/8 x 5 1/4 in. (30.0 x 13.0 cm), unmatted, unframed but glazed.
Condition: Pale staining near upper edge, not removed from glazing.
Provenance: The estate of Irving Penn, New York.
Sight size of sheet: 13 1/4 x 6 7/8 in. (33.8 x 17.5 cm). The print is sandwiched between a board and a sheet of glass that are taped together along the edges. It is not possible to examine the print without destroying this unique housing so it is unclear as to whether or not the print is laid down. Subtle water damage or similar in u.l. and u.r corners, tape residue or similar at u.r. edge. Inscribed "Posada/The second most/Famous printers In/Mexico" in ink on the backing.
