Pair of Hollow-cut Silhouette Portraits of a Man and a Woman, attributed to Moses Williams (1777-c. 1825),early 19th century, the portraits with ink wash hair and clothing details, backed in silk, blind stamp signature "WILLIAMS" below the portraits, black-painted frames with ring hangers, ht. 5 1/2, wd. 4 3/8 in.

Provenance: The Elizabeth L. Maurier Collection.

Note: Moses Williams was an African American silhouettist who cut portraits in the profile gallery of Charles Willson Peale's Philadelphia museum.
