Description:

Two Lead-glazed Creamware Plates, England, late 18th century, probably Staffordshire, each press-molded, one with scalloped rim and alternating fleur-de-lis and tonged leaves decorated in translucent brown manganese and green, dia. 9 3/4; the other with beaded edge to a reticulated rim bordered with zigzags and a fluted band, dia. 9 7/8 in.

Provenance: The Troy Chappell Collection.

Fleur-de-lis plate: Allover staining; several slight chips and abrasions along rim.
Reticulated: Aproximately 6 1/2" crack starting at edge and running along inner rim.
