Stephen Dickerson (American, b. 1955) Levelland
- Sold for:
Stephen Dickerson (American, b. 1955)
Levelland. Signed "S. Dickerson" l.l., signed, dated, and titled ".../2000/..." on the reverse. Mixed media on board, 24 x 54 in., framed. Condition: Good.
N.B. The title Levelland refers to a specific town in west Texas about 25 miles west of Lubbock. Lubbock is roughly 300 miles west of the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area. The land is very level in Levelland, as one might guess, and so influenced the geometric nature of the painting. We would like to thank the artist for his assistance with this lot.
The artist writes that the mixed media pieces include: tree collage pieces printed by hand from a linoleum carving he made of a tree; the grass was also printed from a linoleum carving; he also used acrylic paint and Prismacolor pencils.
There is also a country western song named "Levelland", which is about the town of Levelland, Texas, which the artist heard bout the time he was making that painting.
