Alexander I, Emperor of Russia (1777-1825) Autograph Letter Signed, St. Petersburg, 12 December 1820. Two-page letter inscribed on a quarto-format laid paper bifolium. To a diplomat in Finland [perhaps Count Fabian Gotthard von Steinheil (1762-1831),Russia's Governor-General of Finland between 1810 and 1824] thanking him for an unsolicited donation for relief following the devastating November 19, 1824 St. Petersburg flood. Old folds, slight show-through, small minor repairs to folds, 8 3/4 x 7 1/2 in.
