Three large folio volumes; volume one: first edition first issue; volume two: first edition, second issue; volume three: first edition, first issue; illustrated with 120 hand-finished chromolithographic portraits of Native American Indians, the full-page plate with two maps and a table, and seventeen pages of the facsimile signatures of subscribers; bound in contemporary half dark green morocco, with textured cloth boards, spines ruled and tooled in gilt, a.e.g.; rebacked, and recornered, with the original spines relaid; the plates with good color, minimal foxing, 19 3/4 x 14 in.
