First edition, first issue, folio, hand-colored frontispiece, engraved title (uncolored), hand-colored portrait of Wellington, and fifty-one hand-colored aquatints of battle scenes by Thomas Sutherland; text and plate paper watermarked "Whatman 1812," bound in full contemporary gilt-tooled tan calf, double endbands, inner gilt dentelles, marbled edges; some foxing to tissue guards, 11 x 14 in.
This work covers the Duke of Wellington's defeat of Napoleon and other important events of the Napoleonic wars, including: The Burning of Moscow, The Storming of St. Sebastian, The Entrance of the Allies into Paris, and The Battle of Waterloo.
