Federal Mahogany and Gilt-gesso Patent Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock, attributed to Aaron Willard, Jr., Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1812-15, mahogany case, with 8-in. painted arabic numeral iron dial, gilt rope-molded frames enclosing the reverse-painted tablets, throat glass with oak leaves and acorns, and reading Patent, lower tablet with eagles and garland, lower gilt pedestal, uniform cut head housing the eight-day, brass, weight-driven movement with T-bridge and through bolt attachment, ht. 43 in.
