James Woodward Sidelock Double Rifle with Maker's Case, c. 1890, serial number 4537, .450/400 caliber, walnut stock with finely checkered forend and grip, the lock and frame with fine foliate and scroll engraving and cartouche engraved "J. WOODWARD & SONS," blued barrels with textured rib engraved "The Automatic JAMES WOODWARD & SONS 64 ST JAMES'S STREET, LONDON," with leather-covered oak maker's box, overall lg. 44 1/4 in.

February, 2000, New England Custom Gun Service, Plainfield, New Hampshire performed work on the gun including reengraving the hinge pin and engraving "JWW" on the oval escutcheon. Barrels have spots of oxidation and some ding at the breech, stock has large patch on the right side and infilled holes.
