Smith "Syracuse Seven" 12 Gauge Double-barrel Shotgun, c. 1888, serial number 22265, walnut stock with fine checkering on the forend and grip, lockplates engraved with pheasant and gold hound scene against a wooded background and elaborate foliate scrollwork, and "L.C. Smith" on a ribbon, the breechplate with elaborate foliate engraved decoration, trigger guard with gold spaniel against a reed and tall grass background, an unmarked shield-shaped gold escutcheon on the underside of the butt, the textured rib with white bead sights engraved "L.C. SMITH MAKER SYRACUSE NY EXTRA FINE SIX BLADE DAMASCUS STEEL," stamped inside the frame "PAT'D MAR. 29, 83/JULY 13, 86/OCT. 5, 86," overall lg. 46 1/2 in.
