School of John Crome (Old Crome) (British, 1768-1821)
Child on a Donkey with Two Baskets. Unsigned, attributed in an inscription on the back of the mat. Ink and wash with black chalk or graphite underdrawing on watermarked laid paper, 5 1/8 x 7 in., framed. Condition: Affixed to back mat with small masking tape pieces at center of each vertical side of the recto, unpressed creases.
Provenance: Acquired from Mrs. M. Beckard Gallery, 32rd Avenue and 47th Street, New York City, to a New York estate.

The watermark appears to be a name of five or six letters, perhaps "Y...S," plus the date "1802."
