Four Meissen Porcelain Motto Figures, Germany, late 19th century, each in polychrome pastel hues, featuring an amorous cherub with phrase inscribed at base: "Je les unis," the figure wearing laurel of roses; "Je les couronne," the figure guarding a heart with floral wreath in hand; "Je les enflamme," the figure with a torch in hand; and "Je les ramene," the figure holding a floral garland in the air, each with blue crossed swords mark, ht. 5 1/2 to 5 7/8 in.
Provenance: Property of the Saint Louis Art Museum; sold to benefit the acquisition fund.

Figure with tall column: slight chips to foliate headdress; loss to ribbon and flame.
Figure with low column: restored to both arms, left leg; scattered chips to flowers and petals surrounding column.
