Salvador Dalí (Spanish, 1904-1989)
Decameron/Portfolio of Ten Prints, 1972, from the English edition of 125, published by Transworld Art, New York (Michler & Löpsinger, 552-561; Field, 72-8). Each signed "Dalí" in pencil l.r., identified and numbered "44" on the colophon. Color drypoints on wove paper with "Chiffon de la Dore" watermark, each sheet folded in half to create a sheet 17 3/4 x 12 3/8 in. (45.0 x 31.3 cm),presented in a clamshell box.
Condition: Minor wear to some deckled edges.
Provenance: A private California collection.
N.B. The Decameron was written by the Florentine author Giovanni Boccaccio and was completed in 1353. It is a series of 100 stories told over the course of ten days.
