Condition: Minor toning.
Provenance: Gift of the artist to Charles Percy Parkhurst (1913-2008),Williamstown, Massachusetts. Parkhurst, an art historian, was a part of the so-called Williams Art Mafia. He worked as a museum curator, professor, and was one of the "Monuments Men." Note on the reverse of the frame reads: "Robert Motherwell: Study for canvas mural related to mural canvas (drawing for National Gallery Washington, in the face of E. Wall, balcony of New Building at opening). Gift to CP of Robert Motherwell."
