Alexander Rodchenko (Russian, 1891-1956)
The Cigarette Seller, Pushkin Square, Moscow, 1927. Stamped "univ. prof. ing. lubomir linhart" with a Prague address in black ink on the verso at center, additional pencil annotations on the verso. Gelatin silver print with pigment embellishments probably used for reproductive purposes, image/sheet size 3 1/4 x 4 9/16 in. (8.3 x 11.1 cm), matted, framed.
Condition: Minor surface scuffs and wear at corners.
Provenance: Acquired in 1997 from G.W. Einstein Company, Inc., by the current owner; a copy of the invoice accompanies the lot.
Discolored brushstrokes and streaks on the verso suggest that the print was previously mounted.
