Nicholas Nixon (American, b. 1947)

Lambesc, France. Signed "Nicholas Nixon" in pencil on the verso l.r., titled and dated "...1981" in pencil on the verso l.l. Gelatin silver print, image/sheet size 8 x 10 in. (20.2 x 25.5 cm), unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Minor silvering at very edges of sheet.

Provenance: Purchased from the Light Gallery, New York, by the current owner.

N.B. Although perhaps best known for The Brown Sisters, the portrait series of his wife and her three siblings, Nick Nixon has used large-format cameras to capture cityscapes, school children and the elderly, and himself among other subjects. Nixon has also been an influential teacher at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design for over 40 years.
