Harold E. "Doc" Edgerton (American, 1903-1990)

Pigeon Release, 1965, printed later. Signed "Harold Edgerton" in pencil on the verso at the center. Dye transfer print, image size 14 x 17 7/8 in. (35.5 x 45.5 cm),matted, framed.
Condition: Minor handling crimp in margin at u.r. corner.

Provenance: Acquired from the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University by the current owner.

N.B. Described by National Geographic as "the man who made time stand still," Harold "Doc" Edgerton was an engineer and scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who developed a strobe flash that enabled him to photographically freeze the motion of a bird in flight, a bullet piercing an apple, the splash of a milk drop, and other high speed actions.
