Description:

Paint-decorated Pine Dome-top Trunk, possibly Rhode Island, c. 1827, the hinged top centering stylized red, yellow, and green flowers with panels of wavy lines and leaf and vine border, the front with symmetrical floral and leaf designs bordered by wavy lines, similar decoration on the sides, all framed in red banding, (minor imperfections), ht. 12 3/4, wd. 24, dp. 11 3/4 in.

Note: Lined with newspapers including Providence Patriot and Columbian Phoenix from 1827.

Missing hasp, top with unobtrusive shrinkage cracks. Minor paint wear to edges.
