Needlework Sampler "Nancy Phippen," Beverly, Massachusetts, 1808, stitched in wool threads on a linen background, seven lines of alphabet, the third line numbers, stitched inscription at bottom reads: "Nancy PhiPPen her/SamPler She wrought/It in the ninth year of/Her age Beverly/August the 16, 1808," stitched to cotton backing, (toned), ht. 15 1/2, wd. 8 1/2 in.
