Large Needlework Sampler "Sally Sawyer," Methuen, Massachusetts, early 19th century, with a rhyming verse atop fourteen alphanumeric lines, with the maker's name, age, date, and vital records of her family below, the lower register with an oak tree, a cherry tree, a horn of plenty, and a rose bush, all labeled by the maker, sawtooth lower edge, and meandering foliate vine border, (toned, faded), 33 1/2 x 18 in.
Note: Sally Sawyer was born in Methuen, Massachusetts, December 23, 1793. She married Amos Morse (1793-1865) on November 17, 1814, and died about 1850.
