Unsigned, identified in an inscription on the reverse.
Oil on canvas, 31 1/2 x 25 in. (79.7 x 63.7 cm),framed.
Condition: Craquelure, stretcher bar marks, varnish discoloration, surface grime.
N.B. The sitter is likely Victor-Amédée II (1666-1732).

The inscription marked directly on the reverse reads, "Victor Amedée/King of Sardaign [sic]/died about 1746/he made a present of this portrait as a token of his esteem to/Charles Lewis Durant a Lieutenant Colonel of the Swiss Infantry/in his Service."
