Description:

Pair of George III Sterling Silver Candlesticks, Birmingham, 1809-10, Matthew Boulton, maker, each with an urn-form sconce, removable bobeche (one later, silver-plate), on a tapering stem terminating in a weighted circular foot, ht. 13 3/8 in.

Provenance: The Estate of Hugh Trumbull Adams, to benefit the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Collections Acquisitions Fund.
Estimate $300-500

One bobeche a silver-plate replacement with wear through plated surface (copper showing through). Light surface wear throughout (minor loss to crispness), scattered very minor (unobtrusive) nicks and abrasions. One candlestick bent slightly. Lacquered.
