Federal Mahogany Carved and Bird's-eye Maple Veneer Two-drawer Lyre-base Worktable, early 19th century, with acanthus-carved columns and lyres, carved basket of fruit, bird's-eye maple paneling, and carved paw feet, (restoration), ht. 28 3/4, wd. 20, dp. 16 1/2 in.

splits and finish loss to the top, damage to the turreted corners of the top, shrinkage cracks to the side panels, areas of veneer and molding loss to the case, piece has been refinished, the top drawer reinforced with nails, damages and loss to the reverse of the base and repairs to each leg. The piece is also accompanied by a sticker on the underside reading "Ruth Thomas Gillett Sept. 1920."
