Description:
School of John Hoppner (British, 1758-1810)
Portrait of a Young Lady. Unsigned, titled on a presentation plaque. Oil on canvas, 32 3/4 x 27 1/2 in., framed. Condition: Lined, skinning with probable retouch, prevalent craquelure, and surface grime.
Estimate $20-200
With two gummed labels on the stretcher inscribed "Edward F. Byrners, Pine Lodge, Metheun."
Under UV examination, there is no visible retouch, although the restoration was likely done so long ago that any in-painting would no longer fluoresce.
