Non-kinetic sculpture of sheet metal in black paint, signed with artist's monograph, repainted, loss to paint, some tips are flat, bending and creasing to metal, needs conservation, ht. 11 1/4 in.
Provenance: Descended in the family to the current owner.
Note: Appraised by Perls Gallery, New York, in 1969; a copy of that appraisal will go to the buyer, along with a copy of family letter describing Mr. Calder at the Perls Gallery the day that the Stabile was brought in for inspection, he and his wife had recently arrived from France. At that time it was repainted and signed by Mr. Calder.
This work is registered in the archives of the Calder Foundation, New York, under application A25593.
