Large Paper Maquette for a Memorial to Admiral Lord Nelson, England, early 19th century, designed as an obelisk under a gothic arch, the upper spandrels with Nelson's "Victories," and "Rewards," the obelisk with his wreathed name and his most notable engagements: Nile, Copenhagen, and Trafalgar, all above his countenance surrounded by symbols of British patriotism and war, 25 1/2 x 18 1/2 in. (sight),in modern gray mat and silvered frame.

Note: The closest existing memorial in design to this maquette is at London's Guildhall. It incorporates much of the content shown here, arranged differently, and was built from 1806 to 1811.
