Condition: Patch reinforcement, scattered retouch, craquelure, stretched on a newer stretcher.
N.B. The Horemans were a leading family of genre painters active in Antwerp. Genre painting remained very popular in 18th century Antwerp, and artists of the period were influenced by their predecessors of the previous century, particularly Bouwer and Teniers. Typical of the style, this courtyard scene is filled with individual vignettes and engaging detail throughout.
Framed dimensions are 19 x 24 1/4 inches.
