Heron Roost, 1937, impression of proof D (Paff, 339). Signed "FrankWBenson." in pencil l.l. Etching on wove paper, plate size 11 13/16 x 9 7/8 in. (29.9 x 25.0 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Deckled edges, pencil annotations to lower margin, minor soiling, staining and fingerprints to margins, thinned areas to upper margin.
Provenance: Descended within the family of the artist.
N.B. This print was never published in an edition. Proof D is the most complete, and approximately fifteen impressions of it were made before the plate was destroyed.

The larger thinned area is a line parallel to, but completely outside of, the plate mark, about 2 3/4 inches long and 5/8 inches high. There is also a less obtru sive thinned area at the upper right corner.
