Frank Weston Benson (American, 1862-1951)
Teal, 1925, probably a proof of the final plate before the published edition of 150 (Paff, 243). Signed and dedicated "FrankWBenson. To Tiny-1948-" in pencil l.l. Drypoint on laid paper with "ENGLAND" watermark, plate size 7 13/16 x 10 3/4 in., unmatted, unframed. Condition: Full margins with deckled edges, pencil annotations to lower margin, minor soiling and fingerprints to margins and verso.
Provenance: Descended within the family of the artist.
N.B. The lower margin is inscribed with a D overwritten with an E, implying that this is a late proof impression. Some of the annotations in the lower margins have been erased but read in part, "...proof of finished plate..."
