Description:

Dickens, Charles (1812-1870) Autograph Letter Signed, 28 December 1864. Single sheet of Gad's Hill Place writing paper, with mourning edging, one page. To actor, dramatist, and lessee of the Adelphi Theatre, Benjamin Nottingham Webster (1797-1882), confirming their upcoming engagement, and mentioning the death of David Roberts (1796-1864) . Written in blue ink, matted and framed, 7 x 4 1/4 in.
A facsimile of the envelope that once contained this letter receives notice in The Letters of Charles Dickens, Supplement VI, X, 467.1.
