Porphyry Head of a Roman Emperor, Italy, 18th century, after the antique, on a later marble socle, with a later pedestal, ht. 26 3/4, pedestal ht. 45 1/2 in.

Bust height alone approx. 19 3/4 in. Restored break through back of head (see images). Scattered nicked losses particularly along edges and chest, some shallow losses to face (particularly to viewer's left side to left of nose),one chip to nose filled, small chipped loss to chin with related shallow hairline. Rod with probably replaced. Socle purposefully chipped to fit bust, otherwise socle and marblized wood pedestal with minor wear.
