Hillside at Dusk with Grazing Sheep. Signed and dated "Augte Ortmans.1854." l.r., identified on a printed German label affixed to the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 13 x 16 in., framed. Condition: Small puncture l.l., minor paint losses, scattered abrasions, craquelure, minor surface grime.

With a canvas stencil from Ancienne Maison Valle, Paris, on the reverse, and with a partial Parisian framemaker's label on the back of the frame. Also numbered "1031/355" and "...4419/R" on the stretcher.
Minor canvas deformation along the bottom.
