Hunting Scene: Stag and Boar
Unsigned.
Oil on partially cradled panel, 28 x 23 in. (71.5 x 58.5 cm), framed.
Condition: Vertical split and crack to panel, retouch, craquelure, surface grime.

Provenance: Collection of Eugene McVoy.

N.B. The work at hand was offered in the auction of The Eugene McVoy Collection, 3030 Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, in 1941 as lot 584. The painting, which is in the manner of the Limbourg Brothers, descended in the family to the current owner. Mrs. McVoy spent a great deal of time in Italy and had been planning to build a home on one of the hills of Rome, for which she collected fine and decorative arts.
