Glazed Red Earthenware Milk Jug and Cover, England, c. 1735, probably Staffordshire and in the manner of Samuel Bell or John Astbury, pear shape with strap handle, white slip to rim and to patch at top of handle, press-molded pipe clay ornaments including rampant lions, cockerels, flowers, and foliage, overall ht. 6 1/4 in.
Provenance: Ex Lady Gollancz collection; Ginsburg & Levy.
Jug: Slight glaze loss along rim edge; restoration at top of handle; areas of glaze scratches.
