Description:

White Salt-glazed Stoneware Transfer Printed Plate, England, c. 1760-65, octagonal shape with press-molded cartouche, dot and diaper border, brown enamel rim line, and central puce depiction of Aesop's fable The Goat in the Well bordered with two brick red and two gray-black nosegays, point to point dia. 9 1/8 in.

Provenance: Ex Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Lowy collection.

Light stain spot; no evidence of any cracks, chips or restorations. Scattered wear to brown trim line.
