Description:

Buff-glazed Earthenware Drinking Mug,
England, c. 1700-20,
probably Staffordshire, cylindrical shape with turned bands of hoops and a loop handle, mottled amber brown ground, ht. 2 5/8 in.

Provenance: Ex Dr. John Gray collection.
Literature: Illustrated in An Exhibition of English Pottery, by Atkins (2004).
Estimate $2,000-3,000

Top rim with a 2 1/4" repair and 1/8" rim chip. Foot with 1" and 1 1/4" chips and small edge chips.
