Description:

Tin-glazed Earthenware Footed Punch Bowl, England, c. 1750, probably Bristol, modeled atop a raised and inverted bowl-like foot all blue decorated in the Chinese manner, the exterior with one side depicting a scholar and courtesans in a courtyard, the reverse with fishermen in a water landscape, the foot with a continuous floral band, the bowl interior with standing courtesan by a seated elder in a fenced courtyard, dia. 11 3/4, ht. 7 1/2 in.

Top rim with heavy age typical rim chips and glaze abrasions. Bowl center and foot professionally restored throughout.
