Description:

Tin-glazed Earthenware Posset Pot and a Cover, England, c. 1680-90, the bulbous shape with two scrolled handles and a scrolled spout, blue decorated with Chinese scholars seated in landscape settings, the cover additionally with purple manganese outlines and tree branches, overall ht. 6 1/4 in.

Cover appears to be a marriage to the pot. Cover rim professionally restore. Pot with typical edge loss to glaze along rims, edges of one handle and spout lip. Two 1" rim hairlines and circular hairline surrounding the foot (mostly noticable as you look down into the pot).
