Lady's Black Kesi Gauze Surcoat, China, 19th/20th century, for a first-rank civil official, decorated with twelve kesi embroidered roundels of cranes, butterflies, and chrysanthemums, three in front and in back, two over the shoulders, and two smaller roundels on each sleeve, both coat and sleeves finished with lishui border with auspicious treasure symbols including dragons above, lg. 54, wd. 56 in.
