Description:

Pottery Figure of a Female Rider, China, possibly Tang dynasty, she rides with one hand on the reins, the other at her side, her horse standing with its head bowed and all four legs on the ground, the horse, robe and head decorated with traces of finely crackled cream glaze and traces of red and black pigment, on a flat slab base, ht. 10 1/2 in.
Estimate $800-1,200

No technical examination done, hairline cracks to horse's legs, hole drilled in base.
