Description:

Two Carved Wood Lintel Friezes, southern India, one with a central depiction of Shiva with a snake under his right foot, flanked by seven attendant deities on either side including Ganesh, all carved in high relief, with a flowerhead border in low relief above and below, 31 x 10; and one with a central depiction of Lakshmi, flanked by two elephants and four female attendants at either side carved in high relief, all surrounded by a balustrade and petal border, 28 x 9 3/4 in.

Provenance: Formerly in the collection of Arthur L. and Genevieve S. Funk.
Estimate $400-600

discoloration to wood, overall age wear and tear, some small new chips, age cracks to wood.
