Description:

Three Carved and Painted Birds, John L. Lacey, Wendell H. Gilley, and James Joseph Ahearn, 20th century, a ruffed grouse with painted feather details mounted on a sliced branch base, signed on the underside of the base "RUFFED/GROUSE/(BONASA UMBELLIS)/Lacey 46"; a wild tom turkey with carved and painted feather details mounted on a domed base, inscribed on the underside of the base "Tom/Turkey (wild)/by/W.H. Gilley/S.W. Harbor/Maine"; and a Canada goose in flight with carved and painted feather details, inscribed on the underside of the wings "Canada Goose J. Ahearn"; (imperfections), ht. to 6 1/8 in.

The ruffed grouse has a hairline crack in the body and a crack in the leading edge of one wing, the Canada goose has a repaired neck.
