Charles Émile Jacque (French, 1813-1894)

Shepherd and Flock in a Forest Glade
Signed "ch. Jacque" l.r., with a partial label from Thomas McLean, London, on the stretcher.
Oil on canvas, 32 x 25 1/2 in. (81.5 x 65.0 cm), framed (in a liner).
Condition: Lined, scattered retouch, minor abrasion with paint loss to l.r. corner, fine craquelure.
Estimate $3,000-4,000

Two parallel lines of retouch, one 3 inches and one 1 inch long, located 6 inches in from the c.l. edge. Abrasions in upper right corner and along the right edge of the frame, and lower right corner.

Frame bears a presentation plaque inscribed "Ch. Jacque."
