Oil on canvas, 12 9/16 x 10 3/16 in. (32.0 x 25.8 cm), framed.
Condition: Lined, scattered minor paint losses, surface grime.
N.B. This work bears the red wax seal from the sale of the Rosa Bonheur estate held by Galerie Georges Petit in 1900. The painting likely corresponds to No. 139, Etude de cheval bai cerise listed in the catalog for that sale. (Atelier Rosa Bonheur, Tome 1er, Tableaux [Paris: Imprimerie Gerorges Petit, 1900], p. 35.)
With a stamp from Maison Chapuis, with an address of 20, quai de la Magisserie (Paris), on the stretcher.
Paint losses in the lower left corner and along the left edge. Varnish discoloration top right corner.
